Department of Rural Management was established in 1988, with an emphasis on developing value-based learning skills, the spirit of innovation, dedication, inner consciousness and to identify competency among the students and to sensitize them towards rural communities. Although our course is AICTE approved since 1992 and we have uniqueness. We focus on Gram Swaraj Principle in our management education practices. Because we are committed to prepare Management professional for sustainable rural development. Thus, we are not in the race of B-School’s MBA programme. In our institute, the students learn general management practices with the Gandhian vision of Gram Swaraj. It helps us to prepare dedicated middle level managerial manpower for our villages. The student should be willingly ready to back to village with desired sensitivity and worked for needy segment of society. Now it is renamed MRM (Master of Rural Management) as MBA (Rural Management) since 2015 as per UGC notification.
To Develop the ambassadors of self-sufficiency, self-reliance, and self-respect to bring sustainability in addition to meet the increasing demand for middle level managers of the Voluntary, Semi-Governmental and Governmental organizations functioning in rural development, small industrial and co-operative sectors at village, taluka, and district levels. (Based on Gandhian Principles (Gram Swaraj))
Application:
The candidates must apply for admission on the prescribed form which can be obtained from the centre office. Application forms are available between the months of May to June from the centre.
Selection:
objective type admission test, group discussion and personal interview.
Reservation :
Stipulated percentages of the seats are reserved for Scheduled castes, Scheduled tribes, OBCs and PH candidates.
After admission, each has to compulsory wear prescribed Khadi uniform and participate in prayer and spinning sessions regularly.
The minimum qualification is a Bachelor degree in any discipline with at least 50 % marks. Experience of working on rural projects will be an additional qualification.

MBA in Rural Management curriculum which is divided in Seven Segment:
1. Class-room Teaching Segment
Its covers all the aspects of rural development management and designed in such a way that there is a wonderful fusion of theoretical knowledge, practical experience and exposures.
2. Village Study Segment:
It is an extraordinary task assigned to students to study minutely the socio-economic aspects, political environment, administrative structure, demographic profile, livelihood pattern, employment scenario, infrastructure, culture, history and various other aspects of rural society.
3. Research Work Segment:
The aim is to make students sensitize towards rural communities and issues at grass root level. Here, students are encouraged to conduct research and dissertation on various issues prevailing in the rural segment.
4. Institutional Internship Segment:
It is a golden opportunity for the students to be connected with various reputed corporate houses, rural business enterprises, government departments, cooperatives and NGOs for managerial institutional internship for three months.
5. Development Modules Segment:
Innovative teaching-learning techniques for the holistic development of students have been employed by joining hands with various organisations working in various fields of sustainable rural development.

Robust Evaluation
An attempt is made to assess the student’s performance through a continuous evaluation system including weekly and preliminary test to ensure highest academic standards.
60 – 40 (20 from written test and 20 from continuous evaluation process such as Group discussion, Classroom participation, Seminar/Presentation and Assignments ) Weightage of External-Internal Evaluation.
Every student is required to undertake a small project proposal, Village study and Research work under the guidance of faculty and analyzed in order to prepare a dissertation which is evaluated by a panel of experts.
After completing the course students can get jobs in different NGO’s, Co-operative Institutions, Government & Semi-Government Institutions. They can start their own small-scale industry as well. Most of the students get their job during their three months Institutional Placement.
