Research thrust area of the department is health, physical fitness and wellness. Body composition, Anthropometric Measurement, Sports Psychology, Sports Biomechanics, Human and Sports Performance, Exercise and physiology, Scientific and Principle of Sports Training, Sports Injuries, Gandhian Values, Nutrition and Sports Nutrition, Yoga, Doping in Sports and Values of physical education and Gandhian thought
- The Department has organized various relief Camp such as Nepal earthquake relief camp in lubhu, lalitpur, Nepal, Babapur – Amreli flood relief camp in Amreli, Gujarat, Koshi flood relief camp in Bihar, Surat Flood relief camp in Surat and Thara flood relief camp in Banaskantha, Gujarat.
- Organizing summer camps of different sports under the Sports Authority of Gujarat and various reputed social and educational institutes.
- The Department has conducted training program for PET, Organization of Sports Festival for PTC College, Coaching camp and Training camp for KVS and NVS, Organized many cycle Yatra for awareness of peace and sustain development, Free Medical camp, Blood donation camp and Disaster management camp frequently.
- The Department has conducted 1200 Aadusa Tree plantation program at Narmadavan, Sadra
- The Department has organized regular Practical examination for various post in police department with the collaboration of Gaun Seva Pasandagi Mandal, Gujarat
