Morarji Desai Smriti Kendra
The distinguished statesman former Prime Minister Shri Morarji Bhai Desai, who also served as the Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapith from 1948 to 1963, is honored at the Morarji Desai Smriti Kendra. This Smriti Kendra honors his legacy through a captivating display of his attire, accessories, as well as the prestigious ‘Bharat Ratna’ and ‘Nishan-E-Pakistan’ awards, bestowed upon him in 1991.
The center’s second section showcases Morarji Bhai Desai’s acupressure kit, personal gifts, various idols of Lord Buddha idols, artifacts from regions like Kashmir and Nagaland, all serving as a tribute to his interests and passions. Moving forward, the third section boasts an assortment of gifts from numerous countries, ancient coins, the array of accolades he garnered throughout his illustrious career, and notably, the iconic Arjuna Chariot presented to him by the people of Mumbai in 1956.
Within the premises of Pranjivan Vidyarthi Bhavan, one can also find Gandhiji’s Niwas Khand/Moun Khand and Gandhiji’s Bible Khand. These sections offer a distinct insight into the heritage of Gujarat Vidyapith and provide visitors a profound understanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and contributions.
