According to the National Education Policy 2020, the undergraduate curriculum is of four years and eight semesters. Five types of courses are offered in these four years.
- B.A. Certificate (two semesters/ one year)
- B.A. Diploma (four semesters / two years)
- B.A. Degree (six semesters / three years)
- B.A. Honours (eight semesters/ four years)
- B.A. Honors (Research) (eight semesters/ four years)
The UG program offers question papers ranging from basic understanding of history to its wide understanding. Apart from special question papers on various aspects of India’s history, question papers are also offered on various aspects of historiography, sources of history, national movement of India. The history and culture of Gujarat are compulsorily taught. In the context of world history, the political and cultural history of modern Europe, history of modern ideologies, major revolutions of the world, history of China, Japan, Russia, England, and America are taught. Apart from major courses, students also undertake a minor course in other discipline of their choice in each semester and along with minor courses department offers discipline specific courses under multidisciplinary, skill enhancement and value added courses.

In UG program students will understand the basics of history, history writings, about historians, historical analysis, and methods. In total eight semesters students will compulsorily know about political history of India from beginning to independence, history of Gujarat as regional history from beginning to formation of state, history, and tourism. In options students will go through with the history of East Asia, USA, England, USSR, new approaches and challenges to history.
- Can pursue post-graduate studies in History, archeology, and other related fields.
- Can pursue post-graduate studies in professional programs such as Journalism and Mass communication, Social Work, Law etc.
- Can pursue bachelor’s in education.
- Can pursue Ph.D. program if the student has undertaken B.A. honors with research degree.
