Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English
BA Programme is a four-year undergraduate programme with multiple entry – multiple exit option. The four-year programme is spread over eight semesters with the option of exiting after completion of one year or two year or three year or four years. The entire programme is divided into following sections:
- UG Certificate in English: 1 Year (2 Semesters)
- UG Diploma in English: 2 Years (4 Semesters)
- UG Degree in English: 3 Years (6 Semesters)
- UG Degree (Honours) in English: 4 Years (8 Semesters)
- UG Degree (Honours with Research) in English: 4 Years (8 Semesters)
Each student has to complete a 4-credit summer internship programme after the end of the first year. This should be done in the summer break only.
Each semester of the four-year programme is of 20 credits. A student completing a four-year BA programme would have got 92 credits in Major courses, 32 credits in Minor courses along with other courses such as Ability Enhancement, Skill Development, and Value-Added courses. The programme aims to familiarize the students with the broad contours of English literary history over the last six hundred years in England and its impact on other parts of the world over the last two hundred years. The programme combines the traditional aspects of literary studies and newer domains of English studies in India which include literature in other Indian languages and opening of the field to include postcolonial literature and travel literature. The students are expected to develop broad academic understanding of the English studies. The dissertation paper in the eighth semester aims to train the students for a future career in research.
- Admission is given through CUET (Central Universities Entrance Test) which is conducted by NTA.
- HSC pass in any stream.

- Students will be able to comprehend the idea and diversity of English studies and use their understanding in allied disciplines as well.
- Students will be sufficiently skilled to pursue postgraduate as well as research programme in English studies.
Following opportunities are open to students who complete four year BA programme:
- Pursue post-graduation in English studies.
- Pursue doctoral research programme in English.
- Pursue graduation in teacher education programme to become eligible for teaching positions.
- Pursue post-graduation in professional programmes such as journalism and mass communication, and social work.
- Eligible for applying to government jobs requiring graduation degree.
- Lower-level or mid-level office desk jobs requiring efficiency in English language.
